What date are agency's required to go by to delete negative credit information? Is it the last active date? What about accounts that are turned over to a collection agency, does that same account start over with the new date that the collection agency buys that account?

Agencies have to remove negative items which are older than seven years.

If the account was sold than the new debt holder would start reporting that collection as well.

That is why it is very important if you do pay a credit collection account you get them to agree to delete the account once it is paid.
