I had a Mervyn's card back in 1993. I closed the account in 1994, and it was charged off in 1995. I repaid them completely in 1997. Now it is showing up again as a charge off. There is no payment history on my credit report for the previous 81 month payment history. I have contacted Experion, Equifax and Transunion, and they all VERIFIED it. Isn't the statute of limitations only 7 years??? How do I get it off now? No one at the credit bureaus will help me. I don't owe them any money, and they reported it as a paid charge off, which it was, but that was over 7 years ago. Shouldn't it have dropped off by now? Why would they reage this account if I don't owe anything on it? Help!

They are supposed to remove credit items after seven years. This may turn out to be more of a headache for you than it is worth. Negative items on your credit report affect you little when they are so old.

That's the problem. They have added it like it is brand new. I still haven't been able to get them to change it.
